Every day, working at Boulder Kind Care I meet people and hear their stories. I am humbled and intrigued about their journey and firmly believe that if more people knew these stories there would be no question about the medical benefits of marijuana. This BLOG will be devoted to sharing some of these stories anonymously so we can help to change the stigma behind being a Medical Marijuana patient.

In the past year, I have been amazed at all of the red tape that has been born to this industry.  The requirements are sometimes laughable. I have been impressed with the companies out there that have really risen to the challenge and started producing legitimate brands.  We used to have to fight with certain edible vendors who came through our doors for any kind of label to identify their product's ingredients, potency and suggested dosage.  Our staff had to become guiney pigs to try the products before we would put them on our shelves.  Invoice?  What are you talking about?!  Scheduled orders? Eh, what? But the times they are a changin' and recently we have aligned ourselves with some great vendors.  They have great packaging, with dosages and ingredients.  A little symbol at the bottom shows us that their product is tested in a lab. These are all things that are great for our industry.  We need to adopt standards of practice so that the medicine that people get is exactly what they are expecting....

I get headaches.  Over the past 2 years I have been to see doctors, ENT's, dentists, massage therapists, physical therapists, chiropractors - I've tried everything.  I'll tell you what I don't have: TMJ, Sinusitis, teeth-grinding, migraines...What it boils down to is that my neck wasn't built quite right and throughout the day my body has to compensate by pulling my head upright.  I get intense tension headaches that become so severe that I get symptoms of TMJ, Sinusitis, sore teeth, ringing in my ears... What works?  Massage.  But not the kind of "Spa Massage" where you feel pampered afterwards.  The kind of massage that makes you sore afterwards.  On Monday I had a great massage from Tina Koebel and today, Wednesday, I'm still feeling it!  It  was my own fault for waiting so long.  I should have gone weeks earlier, but I didn't and so Tina's work was cut out for her to remove all the kinks that had been building for a while. She diagnosed a few other issues I am creating for myself - I'm a shallow breather. ...

Last night I tried a Dazy's 1x Orange Chocolate candy.  It was really good!  Edibles seem to effect me in small amounts compared to most, but this was just the right size for me.  I was able to enjoy the entire treat.  I went to bed feeling relaxed but not "stoned" and had a great night's sleep.  Dazy's has a 3x strength, as well, but for me the 1x does the trick!

We have gotten a lot of great feedback on Dazy's confections.  Their packaging is great, the product is effective and the dosages are easy to manage.  Boulder Kind Care features a variety of Dazy's confections as one of our favorite edible vendors.

Come by and try one!

Yesterday, I heard another great testimonial from one of our patients.  This gentleman, in his mid-50's has been battling with high blood pressure since his early twenties.  A few months ago, after getting his Medical Marijuana card, he decided that he was not going to take his blood pressure medication anymore.  Instead, he began an informal experiment using Medical Marijuana.  He began eating an edible in the morning and then 1 to 2 hits during the day.  He just had a check-up with his Dr. and was told for the first time in decades that his blood pressure was within normal limits.  When his Dr. asked how he had achieved this great feat, his patient told him his story.  The Dr. was so intrigued that he asked our patient to work with him to further study his results! Of course we always want our patients to first consult with their Dr. to discuss any change in their medications.  What is so wonderful about this story - and a common theme we've been seeing with our patients - is that there is a dynamic happening. ...
