Just finished my 3rd and hopefully final round of Chemotherapy (I like to be prepared for the worst even though my Oncologist said he was certain  I would only need 3 rounds) and I can honestly say, I feel toxic!  But compared to where I thought I was heading 3 months ago after my initial diagnosis I can honestly say whatever.  Whatever has kind of become my mantra, and I can use it much more around mixed company in place of my old mantra FUCK CANCER.  So just to let you in on a little secret in case you didn't know (maybe you will pass it along to our legislators) Marijuana is helping my nausea a lot!  Go figure, as a pharmacists told me who will go unnamed, it is the best nausea cure out there.  I agree, and it helps greatly to take the edge off all of the chemicals rushing through my blood which probably feels a whole like being on Meth or Heroine without the buzz.  I also would like to be mindful of all the cancer patients who are still struggling with this killer (that I feel, we in the western world have...

Last night I tried a Dazy's 1x Orange Chocolate candy.  It was really good!  Edibles seem to effect me in small amounts compared to most, but this was just the right size for me.  I was able to enjoy the entire treat.  I went to bed feeling relaxed but not "stoned" and had a great night's sleep.  Dazy's has a 3x strength, as well, but for me the 1x does the trick!

We have gotten a lot of great feedback on Dazy's confections.  Their packaging is great, the product is effective and the dosages are easy to manage.  Boulder Kind Care features a variety of Dazy's confections as one of our favorite edible vendors.

Come by and try one!

Di

Yesterday, I heard another great testimonial from one of our patients.  This gentleman, in his mid-50's has been battling with high blood pressure since his early twenties.  A few months ago, after getting his Medical Marijuana card, he decided that he was not going to take his blood pressure medication anymore.  Instead, he began an informal experiment using Medical Marijuana.  He began eating an edible in the morning and then 1 to 2 hits during the day.  He just had a check-up with his Dr. and was told for the first time in decades that his blood pressure was within normal limits.  When his Dr. asked how he had achieved this great feat, his patient told him his story.  The Dr. was so intrigued that he asked our patient to work with him to further study his results! Of course we always want our patients to first consult with their Dr. to discuss any change in their medications.  What is so wonderful about this story - and a common theme we've been seeing with our patients - is that there is a dynamic happening. ...

Well it is the night before my last round of chemotherapy and believe it or not, I am truly lucky.  I know that not everyone that is diagnosed with cancer get's to hear the words cureable and treatable when consulting with their Oncologists (that is if they have access to one).  But I wouldn't change anything, because I have been given a perspective that has enriched my life, made contact with other people more meaningful, and made me more thankful for everything that I have.  The other day I was in Boulder Kind Care, and I spotted someone filling out our paperwork who looked to be a cancer patient, she was.  I could relate, and do my small part to make her feel more comfortable about trying to improve her situation.  I don't take being an advocate lightly, because I know that I have a voice that many don't get to use.  So I will fight cancer, and I will fight for the people that didn't get to hear the words treatable and curable, and help people that want a better way.  More to come......
